○ Gyeonggi-do - GSBC, successfully held Shanghai G-Fair for 3 days from August 29.
○ 40 companies and 1,792 buyers participated in the Fair, and U$50 million business results with 4,358 export talks were made.

At an economic cooperation speech in last July, President Xi Jinping said that both Korea and China understand each other. Like the speech, Gyeonggi-do's small and medium enterprises were well-received by the 1.3 billion people's Chinese market at the "2014 G-Fair Shanghai".

Gyeonggi-do as well as Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Center (hereinafter called "GSBC") said that our 40 companies and 1,792 local buyers participated in the "2014 G-Fair (Superior Korean Goods Fair) Shanghai" which was held at the Shanghai Mart in Shanghai, China for 3 days from August 29, and that the Fair ended in great success with U$50 million business results.

The "2014 G-Fair Shanghai" was crowded with 2,000 attendees in addition to buyers and company officials who visited the Fair from the first exhibition day and therefore, the exhibit hall appeared cramped. Buyers visited the exhibit before 9 a.m. when business meetings were to start and they proceeded with business talks with participating companies; buyers' interest in Korean products was stronger than the Korean wave which has sparkled in China recently.

The exhibition items were composed of daily consumer goods, electric and electronic products, cosmetics and food; interpreters assigned to respective booths spoke with much heat to buyers for explanation of products. Especially, the "2014 Shanghai G-Fair" was intentionally prepared by Gyeonggi-do for targeted marketing at China catching up with increase in demand for Korean made consumer goods related to Korean culture contents in China since President Xi Jinping's visit to Korea in last July.

Dongbang Co., Ltd., which participated in the Fair as a specialized surfactant manufacturer in Hwaseong-si, again met the representative of J company located near to Shanghai again who was met through 'Chinese market exploitation team' operated by GSBC in June last year, and continued business talk. As a result, they concluded the first order of U$50,000 for coming September and the transaction is expected to become U$1 million a year after a market test.

'Muyn-nara Co.' in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, a manufacturer of instant rice noodles, performed a free sampling event for buyers who visited the exhibition hall, and attracted great interest.  On the first day of meeting, the representative and officials of N company personally visited Muyn-nara Co.' booth and had a taste of instant rice noodle products, carefully checked ingredients of the product, and showed their mind of positive import; and, it is expected about U$250,000 will be exported in the future.  l

Chinese buyer Yang Rin, who participated in the Shanghai G-Fair, said that "there is a lot of demand for Korean products including cosmetics used by Korea actors or singers due to Korean wave fever of drama and K-pop in China recently" and added that "I was happy because I could see many creative and excellent products at the exhibition and I am going to have continuous contact with the company which I met this time in order to conclude a final contract."

Gyeonggi-do opened Shanghai GBC (Gyeonggi Business Center) in 2010 and Shenyang GBC in 2011 so as to preoccupy the huge Chinese market even before execution of Korea-China FTA Agreement. In addition, it held Shenyang G-Fair in 2011 and Qingdao G-Fair in 2012 to establish Gyeonggi-do enterprises' image and trust within 1.3 billion people's Chinese market and thus, it achieved substantial results through one step ahead overseas marketing strategies.

Kim, Neungsik, a section chief of Exchange & Trade Section of Gyeonggi-do, said that "Recent Chinese consumer market showed characteristics of increase in demand for eco-friendly products, rapid growth of infant goods due to one child relaxation policy and increased interest in beauty care" and added that "it is expected for participating companies to achieve good results because a focus was made on such characteristics when selecting participants in the Shanghai Fair."

Meantime, Gyeonggi-do and GSBC are going to additionally operate an overseas G-Fair in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in December this year.
