Governor Nam Kyung-pil had a breakfast meeting with some 120 representatives of S Valley member companies at the IT Convention Center in Heungdeok IT Valley on the morning of November 6, and delivered a special lecture on “NEXT Gyeonggi, Opening a New Future.”

S Valley is a consultative group that was formed earlier this year to expand cooperation and share information among resident companies. The seminar that day was joined by Yongin Mayor Jeong Chan-min, S Valley Chairman Kim Bu-gon, Siemens Korea Chairman Kim Jong-gap, Gangbuk Samsung Hospital Director Shin Ho-cheol, Yongin Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Lee Sun-seon, and more.

Governor Nam Kyung-pil said in his lecture that, “The role of a leader is to prepare for the future by setting a clear direction and goals, and by utilizing the ability to cope with crises. As Governor of Gyeonggi Province, I have set a goal for the 6th Gyeonggi provincial administration elected by popular vote, which is to create a safe and warm Gyeonggi Province that has ample jobs. Let’s combine our efforts to make Gyeonggi Province the standard model for the nation and for the world.”

Of particular note, Governor Nam said, “In order to grow into a developed nation in which economic and welfare measures can be appropriately implemented, we need to resolve political waste and conflict structure. Gyeonggi Province will realize economic growth with consideration for others through federal politics in which the right and the left share responsibilities.”

“What entrepreneurs like the least is neither conservatism nor progressivism. It is uncertainty. Through a federal political system, we can create a stable political environment that is consistent and predictable. Just like the federal system of Germany, I will create a new model for Gyeonggi Province in which economic policies won’t be affected by a change in political power,” added Governor Nam.

Furthermore, he outlined his plan through which Gyeonggi Province would overcome the downturn in its potential growth rates with new economic paradigms, such as economic growth with concern for equity, a human-centered ecology, leading innovations, the convergence of industries, and start-ups based on data and innovation.

Governor Nam said, “I will create an economic model that is tailored for Gyeonggi Province and, like those of Germany and France, in which social economy is harmonized with traditional growth. If our unique information technologies are converged with existing industries, it would create a global economic model.”

“Through the Big-Fi (Bigdata Free Information) project, a new platform will be established upon which new values can be added with new ideas and technologies as everyone is enabled to freely use all necessary information. We will need to set up a sound standard to address the privacy information issue first so that an innovative economy can be realized by sharing information.”
